Born in Beirut in 1963, Jean-Marc Nahas obtained his MFA after graduating from the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts (ENSBA), Paris and divides his time between North America, Europe and the Middle -East. He now lives in Montreal.

The work of Jean-Marc Nahas is preserved in various museums and public collections of international renown, such as the British Museum, the Sursock Museum or the Bank Audi Foundation in Beirut, as well as many prestigious art galleries around the world. The artist recently exhibited at the Beirut Art Fair in 2018, at Art Basel Miami in 2019, or at the Contemporary Art Platform Gallery in Kuwait.

Jean-Marc Nahas gives a major place to the self-portrait in his work, as well as to the representation of dogs and women. He thus speaks of a “continuous work of introspection revealing [his] identity and [his] personal construction”, and explains that his works “tell [his] experience in human tragedy. He speaks of war, isolation and suffering with a repetitive and obsessive obsession with balance ”.
